Faced with the problem of continuity, Barth concludes that it cannot be denied: “The rest, the givenness, the certainty, the most fundamental stedfastness of this relationship must be sought and found precisely in the permanence of this communion with God, in the unyielding nature of this decision, in the undiminishing vitality of this divine encounter.”3 No one can escape the question about the relation between faith and the permanency of the communion with God which has become a reality in faith.
